Vernon Clyde Schock, son of Fred W. and Annetta (Kempf) Schock was born December 27, 1935 near Ashley, ND. He attended a country school while working on the family farm. He then worked road construction, building county roads. He was united in marriage to Bernice Hilda Zelmer on October 14, 1962 at Ashley. They made their home in Ashley. Read More	Vernon Clyde Schock, 72, of Ashley died March 22, 2008 at Triumph Hospital at Mandan, ND. Vernon Clyde Schock, son of Fred W. and Annetta (Kempf) Schock was born December 27, 1935 near Ashley, ND. He attended a country school while working on the family farm. He then worked road construction, building county roads. He was united in marriage to Bernice Hilda Zelmer on October 14, 1962 at Ashley. They made their home in Ashley. In 1971, they moved to Venturia, ND, where he worked in the grain elevator. In 1975, they moved to the Tuttle – Steele, ND area where he also worked in the grain elevator and as a janitor at Lone Steer in Steele. In 1984, they moved to San Diego, CA, where he managed a Radisson Hotel. In 1990, they moved back to Ashley, where he worked for Blumhardt Manufacturing and the City of Ashley. His wife died March 11, 1991. In 2000, he retired and continued to make Ashley his home. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, Tim Schock of La Mesa, California and Todd (Luvit) Schock of Arlington, Texas, one sister, Sylvia Sande of San Diego, California and three grandchildren, Brizy, Drezden and Greyzon. His parents, wife and one brother, Donald preceded him in death. Casketbearers will be Tim Schock, Todd Schock, Matt Morgan, Gary Jenner, Lester Schock and Dennis Ulrich. The organist will be Steve Glaesmann and the soloist is Brizy Schock. Funeral service for Vernon Clyde Schock will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 28, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. The Rev. Jeff Giles will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Ashley. There will be a prayer service Thursday at 8pm with visitation from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
