Description	:	Vernon Dale Keever, 85, died Dec. 29, 2004, at West Park Long Term Care Center. He was born July 17, 1919, in Quitman, Mo., to Ora E. and Hazel M. Keever. He helped his dad on the farm and his neighbors for many years. He was baptized in Florida Creek by the pastor of South Methodist Church when he 8 years old. He was born July 17, 1919, in Quitman, Mo., to Ora E. and Hazel M. Keever. He helped his dad on the farm and his neighbors for many years. Mr. Keever returned to Quitman and married Helen Louise Kempf on Feb. 14, 1947. He worked for St. Joseph, Mo., Engineering at the time. The couple moved to Cody in September 1947, riding in the back of his parents' yellow International pickup with their few belongings. Mr. Keever worked for Kurtz and Corder as a plumber's helper. He started to work for the city of Cody in 1950. He was appointed to street commissioner in 1954 and retired in 1987. He joined the Eagles in Cody in 1944 and was a member of Cody Aerie #818 for 60 years. He was president of the Cody aerie in 1968-69. He served in all local and state offices. He was Wyoming state president 1983-84. He was state honorary father 1992-93 and was honorary state grandfather 1999-2000. He served as tri-state president and was mountain regional cancer president in 1982. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Helen, son Elwin (Nina) Keever, daughter Linda (Dale) Ruskowsky, brother Blaine of Cody, brother Shelby (Emilee) of Maryville, Mo., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dale Edward Keever and brother Purl Garland Keever. Visitation was Sunday at Ballard Funeral Home and Cody Eagles conducted graveside services Monday at Riverside Cemetery.
