Vernon George Van Gampleare, son of Alfonse Van Gampleare and Georgina Julienne Satnat Van Gampleare, was born August 18, 1931, near Hartwick, Iowa Vernon received his education at Hartwick and served with the US Army during the Korean War. On March 14, 1970 he was married to Carol S. Bair in Brooklyn. He was a cook and was last employed by Brooklyn 80 Restaurant. Before that he had worked at Star Inn and Dickey's. Vernon was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Brooklyn. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Carol of Brooklyn; his daughter and her husband, Theresa and David Slaymaker of Brooklyn; his stepson, Danny Hubbell of Brooklyn; his stepdaughter, Cindy Weiss of North English; his brother, Albert Van Gampleare of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Madelyn Ryan of Belle Plaine, Lorraine Tracy of Moline, Illinois; and Yvonne Price of Brooklyn; and six grandchildren.
