Interment was in the church cemetery. He died March 15, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lakota. Rev. Clarence Stanley officiated. Karen Anderson was organist. Vernon Johnson was born April 24, 1913 on the family farm in Springfield Township of Towner County to Carl and Anna Tvedt Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was reared in Springfield Township and attended Wheatland School. He married Ruth Mickelson March 28, 1936 at Leeds.He worked for area farmers until he began farming on his own in the Bisbee-Cando area. He retired from farming after 40 years. She died Sept. 3, 1977. He moved to Cando in 1983. He entered the Good Samaritan Center in Lakota in July of 2002. He was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church, the Devils Lake Elks Lodge and the Cando Senior Citizens Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and golf. Survivors include a brother, Norman Johnson of Devils Lake and a sister, Genevieve Ahlberg of Cando. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Phyllis Schaap; and a brother, Arthur Johnson. Supplied by Curtis Yri #48322430
