Description	:	Vernon LeRoy Ostermeyer, 72, of Albia, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his home in Albia. LeRoy was born on Aug. 29, 1938, in Ute, Iowa, to George and Elsie(Bridgemen)Ostermeyer. LeRoy married Leona Mae McKim on Oct. 6, 1956. To this union was born, Julie, Vernon LeRoy Jr., April, Raymond, Patricia and Angel. LeRoy had many occupations in life. He started as a driver for Smith Laundry. He went on to become the famous Milkman for Flynn Dairy. He adored his job with the Albia School District as a school bus driver for 16 years. ... LeRoy married Leona Mae McKim on Oct. 6, 1956. To this union was born, Julie, Vernon LeRoy Jr., April, Raymond, Patricia and Angel. LeRoy had many occupations in life. He started as a driver for Smith Laundry. He went on to become the famous Milkman for Flynn Dairy. He adored his job with the Albia School District as a school bus driver for 16 years. In 1980, LeRoy and Leona opened their business L and L Distributing and retired self-employed in 2003. LeRoy also thoroughly enjoyed his scrap business where he found many treasures. LeRoy enloyed camping and fishing in his free time. LeRoy is survived by his wife Leona Ostermeyer of Albia; his children, Julie M.(Allan)Barnes of Albia, April L.(Gaylon)Propp of Whitewood, S.D., Raymond W. Ostermeyer of Ottumwa and Patricia J. Ostermeyer(John Johnston)of Albia; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. LeRoy is survived by a brother, Frank(Lorainne)Martz of Wokonda, S.D.; and two sisters, Bertha Leona(Pete)Marshall(Buddy)of Lafayette, Ind., and Pearl(Orville)Heck of Princeton, MO. LeRoy is also survived by his in-in-laws, Jerry(Sandy)McKim, Paul(Rhonda)McKim, Ed(Bonnie)McKim, Beverly Barker, Alzina(Ken)Bentley, Dorothy(Dick)Survis, Carol(Ray)Stephens, Rosie Brown, Rita(Vince)Crall, Geraldine Stewart, Norma(Cal)Scales, Kathey(Brad)Edmundson, Barb(Dan)Casper and Jane McKim; and many nieces and nephews. LeRoy was loved by all the family. LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie; one son, LeRoy Jr.; one daughter, Angel; two brothers, Jim and Ray Martz; two sisters, Clara Puls, and Ada Purdy; a sister-in-law, Diane Valentine; and a brother-in-law, Harold McKim. A memorial service will be 10:30 am Monday at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor John Van Wheelden officiating, with a private family burial at Selection Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home with LeRoy's family present from 2-4 pm. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
