Whittle, age 73, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, October 14, 1995 in Versailles. He was born January 31, 1922 in Versailles, the son of Charles Frederick (Jack) Whittle & Freda M. Chapman. He was married on May 18, 1946 to Ruth Evelyn Talbott who survives of the home. He was the father of 3 daughters, Sharon Kay Whittle, Clarinda Jo Whittle & Patti Irene Whittle. Mr. Whittle served 26 years in the U.S. Army before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3 on July 1, 1967. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, the American Legion Post #104 of Versailles and the Glensted United Methodist Church near Versailles. He was Past Master of the Versailles Masonic Lodge #320 A.F. & A.M. where he served as secretary for the past 15 years. He was Past Patron of the Versailles O.E.S. Chapter #410 and the Barnett O.E.S. Chapter #303, was a member of the Sedalia White Shrine #38 and Past Watchman of the Shephards of the White Shrine, member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield, member and Past Rajah of the North Shore Shrine Club, member of the Scottish Rite in Sedalia and the Knight Templar in Jefferson City. He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Whittle of the home; two daughters, Clarinda Jo Reistad of Lee's Summit, MO, and Patti Irene Fitzhugh of Nashville, TN; his mother, Freda Stroup of Sedalia; five grandchildren, James M. Reistad, Matthew V. Reistad, Kelly Joe Reistad, Tara N. Foster and Erin C. Fitzhugh; one great-granddaughter, Alison N. Foster, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kay Whittle on March 30, 1955.
