He attended grade school in Danzig, and high school at Ashley. Music was of interest to him at a very young age. He was fortunate to have an excellent music teacher, support from Mom & Dad, and enough interest and dedication to become a good musician. Vernon Samuel, first-born and only son of Sam & Esther Eszlinger was born at Danzig, ND. Sister Julia soon followed him. He attended grade school in Danzig, and high school at Ashley. Music was of interest to him at a very young age. He was fortunate to have an excellent music teacher, support from Mom & Dad, and enough interest and dedication to become a good musician. His high school music experience was epitomized with the faculty voting him the most outstanding musician of the 1952 graduation class. He attended Jamestown College for two years, completing language and music theory requirements, and then transferred to Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD to fulfill his music performance and teaching requirements. While attending Northern, he played professionally with dance bands and taught high school band and choir on a part-time basis at Langford, SD. Prior to his college graduation he was married to Shirley Ann Marie Farness on June 2, 1957 at Webster, SD. This marriage was blessed with four children. Daughter Kathryn Lee and three sons, Kevin Layne, Kerry Lyol and Kris Leon. They moved to Lemmon, SD where he served as High School Music Supervisor for two years after which they decided to enter the business segment of the music world. After eight years of working in and owning a music store, a new opportunity came along; salesman for a manufacturer of musical instruments, selling to music stores. In 1967 Vernon joined C.B.S. Musical Instruments. He devoted seven years as a regional sales manager. In 1974 he was promoted to National Sales Manager, then promoted to Director of Marketing in 1978 to 1980. Vernon was married to his present wife Mary Anne in 1985. They live in Brea, California near their children. They own and operate a music store in Fullerton, CA.
