Previous to the marriage of Vernone and Dora, better known as "Job" and "Dode", Vernon was a school teacher, having taught in a one room rural school near his home, riding a horse to and from school and also taught in a high school in Birchtree, Mo. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Maryville Teachers College in 1926. He also attended the graduate school of Missouri University. After their marriage they were associated with Frank Goslee in farming and raising livestock for six years. Vernon was appointed Postmaster of the Skidmore Post Office by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and James A. Farley, Postmaster General. He served his community as Postmaster for almost 38 years, before he retired in 1971. During that time the Goslees were active in the life of their town. Vernon belonged to several organizations: United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Historical Society and at one time wrote a weekly human interest column for a newspaper. Home of the Punkin Show, 1980. Obituary: Vernon V. "Jobe" Goslee, Skidmore, died Tuesday, June 30, in the St. Francis Hospital, Maryille, after a long illness. he was a retired postmaster. Born Nov. 22, 1904, in Skidmore, he was the son of Frank I. and Willa Bond Goslee. He was married to Dora E. Masters in 1928. He was a member of the Skidmore Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Lions Club. Survivors include two sons, Jobie Goslee, Springfield, and Derry G. Goslee, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter Eleanor Kay blair, Cosby; a brother, Q. Goslee, Skidmore; three sisters, Vivian McIntosh, Skidmore, Helena Haase, Burlington Jct., and Hildred O'Riley, Fort Dodge, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Pauline Masters, Maryville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Friday, July 3, in the Skidmore United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, Mo.
