Description	:	Verona M. Kromminga was born Dec. 24, 1924, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Elsa M. Behrends Kromminga. Verona graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1942. She took Normal Training during the summer and began teaching in the rural schools that fall. She taught at Frog Hollow and Castle Grove No. 6 and later at a school north of Hopkinton. Verona Kromminga and Royal R. Landis were married April 7, 1943, at First Congregational Church in Anamosa. After the couple moved back to Monticello, Verona worked at the Monticello State Bank for 26 years. She was a member of the United Church of Monticello. She was an avid bridge player. Verona and Royal enjoyed traveling and had visited over 50 countries. They also had been part of the Jones County Hiking Club and loved to dance at all the ballrooms in the area.
