Veronica "Roni" Amelia Kuemper, daughter of Henry and Katherine (Duwenhoegger) Kuemper, was born on January 9, 1926 in Hankinson, ND. At a young age, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943. After school she worked for Manchester's Cookie Company. Veronica "Roni" Amelia Kuemper, daughter of Henry and Katherine (Duwenhoegger) Kuemper, was born on January 9, 1926 in Hankinson, ND. At a young age, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943. After school she worked for Manchester's Cookie Company. Veronica was united in marriage with Marvin Lund on June 9, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD. Veronica then began to raise a family. They had eleven children in sixteen years, and Roni still found time to work in the evenings as a waitress at the Stockyard's Café and other various restaurants. Marvin passed away on October 13, 1999. Strong in her faith, Veronica was an active member of St. Joseph Cathedral, participating in the Catholic Daughters and the Cathedral Club. She was also active in the Moose Lodge, the VFW Auxiliary, the Navy Mothers, the Fair Share Program, and was a volunteer at Covington Heights for Bingo with the Moose. Roni was a very caring woman that loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, scrabble, cards, and baking bread for friends. She would often be heard saying "Here's a kiss "on the cheek"" and had to have "heart to heart" hugs. Grateful for having shared her life are six sons, Michael Lund and his wife Mary, Tea, SD, Daniel Lund and his wife Pam, Sioux Falls, SD, Brian Lund and his wife Jann, Sioux Falls, SD, James Lund, Sioux Falls, SD, Richard Lund and his wife Jan, Lennox, SD, Sam Lund and his wife Kristy, Sioux Falls, SD; five daughters Margaret Scholten and her husband Bob, Wheatland, WY, Kathryn Miller and her husband Mike, Sioux Falls, SD, Patricia Keleher and her husband Rich, Colorado Springs, CO, Aimee Luck and her husband Brad, Monroe, MI, Linda Pitz and her husband Dave, Garretson, SD; a brother, Herman "Ken" Kuemper, Sioux Falls, SD; four sisters, Kaye Ruby, Sioux Falls, SD, MaryAnn Hisel and her husband Bob, Sioux Falls, SD, Marge Holm and her husband Bob, Sioux Falls, SD, Dorothy Donovan and her husband Bert, Wheatland, WY; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kuemper, (and Scrabble friend) Florence Kuemper; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends. Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; three brothers, Albert, Leo, and Joe Kuemper; two sisters, Otilia "Chenoweth" Deters, and Agnes Samek. The family of Veronica Lund thanks you for your support and presence today. An invitation is extended to join them at the VFW Post 628, 3601 S. Minnesota Avenue, for refreshments and fellowship following the committal service. Viewing will begin at 12pm Monday June 27, 2005 at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. The family will be present beginning at 6pm Tuesday June 28, 2005 with a wake service followed by a rosary beginning at 7pm in the Miller Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday June 29, 2005 at St. Joseph Cathedral with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD. Miller Funeral Home 507 S.
