Description	:	Alton Democrat; November 16, 2004 Veronica "Connie" Friedmann, 94, a native and lifelong resident of Alton, died Thurs. Nov. 11, 2004 at the Orange City Health System Hospital following a lengthy illness. A rosary was held on Sun. afternoon, Nov. 14, at St. Mary's Church in Alton by the Rosary Society. Veronica Catherine Friedmann was born Jan. 10, 1910 on the family farm near Alton, the daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Schneider) Friedmann. She was reared at Alton and attended St. Mary's Academy. As a young woman she was employed for several years in Sioux City followed by employment at the convent in Alton. Prior to retirement in 1982 she worked as a nurses aide in the Orange City hospital for more than 14 years. Connie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society in Alton. She was a wonderful gardener and grew beautiful flowers. At one time she was active member of a gladiola society and quite often furnished gladiola arrangements to decorate the altars at St. Mary's Church. Survivors include two sisters, Sister M. De Riccci Friedmann, O.S.F. of Dubuque and Lillian Heuertz of Le Mars; a brother, Rev. Cecil H. Friedmann of Algona; 10 nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Darlene Friedmann of Alton. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Joseph and Raymond Friedmann.
