Mrs. Kelly, 97, died Monday, March 3, at Carroll Health Center. The Revs. Timothy Schott and Ed Tiedeman will concelebrate the Mass. Mrs. Kelly, 97, died Monday, March 3, at Carroll Health Center. The Revs. Timothy Schott and Ed Tiedeman will concelebrate the Mass. Lector will be Mrs. Kelly's granddaughter, Mary Kathleen Dolphin-Abler. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Colleen Dolphin, Kelly Dolphin and Samantha Kelly. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Shane Kelly, Connor Kelly, Quinn Kelly, Mike Linde, Steve Dolphin, and Mike Dolphin. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll. A rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A daughter of Peter and Mary (Lane) Portz, she was born Dec. 13, 1910, at Denison and graduated from Denison High School. In her youth she played piano for silent movies at the local theater and was organist at St. Rose of Lima Church in Denison. She was a secretary at Omaha, Neb., and worked at a Denison bank for many years. She and Robert "Bud" Kelly were married Jan. 5, 1946, at St. Rose of Lima Church. The Kellys settled in Sac City and opened Kelly's Shoe Store. They moved to Carroll in 1955, bought Kelly's Shoe Store and operated it until 1976. Mrs. Kelly was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Ladies Guild and a longtime member of the Carroll Country Club and Women's Golf League. She enjoyed golfing and was a grand master bridge player. Survivors include five children: Peter Kelly and wife Lynn of Elmhurst, Illinois, Mary Lane Kelly-Dolphin and husband Dennis of Lauderdale, Minn., Michael Kelly of Carroll, Bob Kelly of Carroll, and Tom Kelly of Engelwood, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud, in December 1980; and three sisters: Loretta, Viola, and Edna.
