Online condolences may be made to the Saylor family at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com Veronica Pearl McCarty, daughter of Thomas and Pearl Bales McCarty was born September 3, 1931, in Eldora, Iowa. Veronica received her education in Eldora, graduating from Eldora High School in 1950. In her early years, Veronica was a singer in a local orchestra and worked as a waitress. In 1950, she married Erwin Vincent Saylor in Eldora where the couple made their home. Veronica’s main vocation was as a homemaker. Following Erwin’s death, she worked as a home health aide for several years. Veronica was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved playing solitaire, solving crosswords, bird watching and also was a volunteer at local nursing homes. Survivors include her niece and nephew, Don and Marlene Shaver, of Altoona, IA; sisters-in-law, Rita (Jim) Pagel, Donna Allbee, and Karen (Jim) Priske, all of Eldora, IA; granddaughter, Kari Ita, of Burlington, IA; grandsons, Michael Ita, of Burlington, IA; Brent Ita, of St. Louis, MO; several nieces and nephews and friends, Joe and Pat Fuchs, of Eldora, IA. In addition to her parents, Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Saylor; daughter, Mary Ita; grandson, Tim Bolte; two sisters and two brothers.
