Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Matthew Catholic Church, by Monsignor Robert Hogan. Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Calvary Cemetery, near Ryan. She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. A resident of Cedar Rapids since 1943, Veronica was born Aug. 19, 1899, in Delaware County, the daughter of Francis P. and Susan Ann Donnelly Ryan. She married Frank M. Kirkland in 1921. They were later divorced. Veronica attended Clarke College, Dubuque, and Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She was employed by Collins Radio and later as a legal secretary, retiring in 1982. She was a 47-year member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a longtime member of St. Margaret's Circle there. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church since 1990, and the American Legion Auxiliary since 1942. ..Cedar Rapids IA Gazette 26SEP1996.
