Description	:	Old Johnsonville, June 15 - The sudden death early Sunday morning of little Vesper McDaniel, eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood McDaniel, cast a gloom over the community. He had been ill with several days with pneumonia. He was taken to Saunders Memorial Hospital, Florence, last Thursday. He gradually became weaker and the change for the worst almost immediately was followed by death. A bright, manly little fellow, he will be sorely missed in the home and by his many playmates. His grade, the first, and teacher, attended the funeral, each carrying a bunch of flowers.... The simple, yet impressive service was held in Old Johnsonville church Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the Rev. J. G. Ferguson. His body was laid to rest in the cemetery, his grave being banked with flowers. Besides his parents to mourn his loss are four brothers and two sisters. Source: The County Record 18 June 1936
