Description	:	Vesta Howk Vesta D. Howk, 94, passed away April 21, 2018 at her home. She was born Christmas day, December 25, 1923, to Paul and Marie Boley Ruby. She grew up in Fairfield, IA, but moved with her parents to Ottumwa in 1938. She married Bill Howk on January 31, 1942. He preceded her in death August 16, 2000. She grew up in Fairfield, IA, but moved with her parents to Ottumwa in 1938. She married Bill Howk on January 31, 1942. He preceded her in death August 16, 2000. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1941, she was an employee of J.C. Penney for over 30 years. Vesta was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling. She was a member of Northgate Alliance Church. Surviving are a son, Dick (Ruthie) Howk of Hot Springs, AR; two granddaughters, Mandi Bohlen and Carri Riley both of Hot Springs, AR; 6 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary (Bud) Northup of Fairfax, IA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Howk; a brother, Glen Ruby; and a sister, Ella Ruth Buchholz. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shaul Cemetery with Rev. Jim Eschenbrenner officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
