Description	:	Death has again entered our midst and Mrs. Roy Steen was claimed for her eternal home. She passed at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McMullen in Emerson last Friday, October 24 after a period of illness and ill health, during which time every thing possible was done to stay the ravages of the disease, but was done to no avail. Funeral services held from the Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. E. Wilkins pastor of the Baptist Church in Malvern assisted by Rev. W. H. Stickel pastor of the local church. Interment was made in the Emerson Cemetery. The following obituary was read: Vesta Hazel McMullin was born in Emerson, Iowa March 6, 1889 and she passed away October 26, 1923 in Emerson, Iowa. She spent the greater part of her life in Emerson, only being away from here at short intervals. When about 20 years of age, she was converted and joined the Baptist Chruch remaining an earnest and consistent member until her death. She was married April 7, 1909 to Roy Steen and to them two children were born. One baby dying when about 2 months old and the other son, Billy, who with the sorrowing husband survive her. When in Denver, Colorado about 3 years ago she sufferred a severe illness pnemonia, from which she never fully recoveded. Last July she went to the hospital in Council Bluffs hoping for relief but received little help. She gradually failed until the end came. She made a brave attempt and uncomplaining fight but failed. She leaves besides her husband and son, her parents and one sister and a host of friends who sincerely mourn her passing. The sorrowing family have our sympathy.
