Description	:	Vesta M. Hanson, 99, of Viborg, SD passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg. Vesta Myrtle Hansen was born on September 25, 1913, to T.C. Hanson and Bertha (Polley) Hanson. She was born and raised in Wakonda, graduating from Wakonda High School in 1931. Vesta attended Northern State College and earned her State Teaching Certificate. While teaching, Vesta continued her education, earning her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in music. Hanson, 99, of Viborg, SD passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg. Vesta Myrtle Hansen was born on September 25, 1913, to T.C. Hanson and Bertha (Polley) Hanson. She was born and raised in Wakonda, graduating from Wakonda High School in 1931. Vesta attended Northern State College and earned her State Teaching Certificate. While teaching, Vesta continued her education, earning her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in music. Vesta taught in Ashton and Platte schools for 3 ½ years, then Sioux Falls Kindergarten until 1952, when she went to Northern State to teach Early Childhood and Elementary Ed. She taught at Northern State for 27 years and retired in 1979. Vesta enjoyed traveling with her sister Margaret every summer after retirement. They traveled to many countries in six of the seven continents. Survivors include nieces; Deanne Leapley, Bonnie Wright, Cindy (Paul) Thrailkill, Linda Hanson, 1st cousin Russell Polley; several grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews, also several special cousins on both sides of the family. She was preceded in death by; her parents, sister Margaret, brother Lyle, nephew Pastor Steve Hanson, two nephews-in-law and an infant nephew.
