He was born April 1, 1923 in Davis County, Iowa to Ernest Abram and Cora Elizabeth Lough Wimp. He married Velma Irene Gravett May 8, 1942 in Davis County. She preceded him in death April 28, 1975. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Bloomfield. He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn(Jack)Jackson of Batavia, Iowa, Sharon Shypkowski of Des Moines, Iowa; two step-daughters, Juanita Bonner of Floris, Iowa, Marilyn Lough of Luzerne, Iowa; a step-son, Richard Closser of Floris, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie K. and John Tetmeyer; and a brother, Verlin Wimp. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 9 am on Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Avenue of Flags at the IOOF Cemetery.
