Description	:	Mrs. Vetral Hudson Welborn, 97, of Dobson who was know as "Grannie Welborn" and to others as "Aunt Bea-Bea" died on Wednesday Feb. 4, 2004, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. She was born in Surry County, on April 17, 1906, to the late John Bilson Hudson and Carrie Levora Lyons Hudson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Elliott Welborn; five sisters, Mary Belle Yarborough, Stella Johnson, Nannie Layne, Ora Parks and Louise Byrd; and one brother, Dewitt Hudson. Vetral was a homemaker, and the oldest living member of Dobson First BC which she attended faithfully. She enjoyed being a member of several organizations as long as her health permitted. Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law Camilla and Jasper Cook of Dobson; three granddaughters and spouses, Tanya and Ray Hall of Dobson, Karen and Matthew Hott of Bloomery, W.Va., and Shari and Rob Thomas of Dobson; three great-grandsons, Seth Hudson Thomas, Caleb Hunt Thomas and Luke Elliott Hott; one sister, Kathleen Teague of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Edna Hudson Baker of Elkin. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, Feb. 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Dobson First BC. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Dobson First BC Building Fund, P.O. Box 278, Dobson, N.C. 27017.
