Withee Hartland – Victor John Withee, 80, died March 4, 1990, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1909, at Hartland, the son of Frank and Leta (Bragg) Withee Sr. He attended Hartland schools and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna, at the time of his retirement in 1976. He was an avid pool player. He is survived by two sons, two daughters; two sisters, Edna Gordon and Emma Ryder, both of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Freda (Thompson) Withee, who died June 11, 1980. Friends may call 2-3 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby Funeral Home, 64 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday morning with the Rev. Gene Aubry officiating. Spring interment will be Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory I care of Crosby Funeral Home, 64 Main St., Newport 04953.
