Description	:	Victor Norman Cullers, 87, of Mathias, WV died January 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 29, 1926 in Mathias, and was a son of the late Bernie G. and Mary V. Cullers. Victor grew up on the family farm in Mathias. He attended Mathias High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines, and Korea. He was a Mess Sergeant while assigned to Company "G" 1st Infantry Regiment in Korea. He returned home to Mathias after WWII, and farmed the rest of his life. He was born October 29, 1926 in Mathias, and was a son of the late Bernie G. and Mary V. Cullers. Victor grew up on the family farm in Mathias. He attended Mathias High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines, and Korea. He was a Mess Sergeant while assigned to Company "G" 1st Infantry Regiment in Korea. He returned home to Mathias after WWII, and farmed the rest of his life. He worked a number of years at Columbia Gas in Mathias; and enjoyed driving a school bus for Hardy Co. for 25 years before retiring in 1988. He also enjoyed the people of the community, and his farm animals. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Mathias, and attended Jenkins Chapel United Methodist Church in Mathias. He was a member of VFW Post 7780 of Lost River, WV, and a member of Retired Personnel of Hardy Co. Schools. On March 11, 1950 Victor married the former Madeline Dispanet, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Kent Alan Cullers and wife Dawn of New Market, VA; grandchildren, Brandi L. Breeden and husband Chad of Elkton, Kent Cullers II, and Dillon Cullers, both of New Market; great grandchildren, Elise and Riley Breeden, sisters, Violet Dove of Timberville, Tina K. Shannon and husband Robert of Warrenton, VA; a special nephew and friend, Leonard A. Cullers of Timberville; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends in the Mathias Community. Two brothers, Wilbert Cullers, Sr., and Ernest Brown Cullers, and one sister Nadine Ingensoll, preceded him in death. Pastors Kelley Simmons and Jonathan Hedrick will conduct a funeral service 2:00 PM Sunday at Jenkins Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Dispanet Cemetery in Mathias. Friends may call anytime at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Memorial contributions may be made to Jenkins Chapel United Methodist Church.
