October 30, 1936 - Married Opal Jennive Lottie Fass, daughter of Heinrich Martin Fass and Laura Rademacher. ∼ Victor Sodman Oestmann born March 29, 1914, at Rorhs, NE. was one of two children of Albert and Addie Sodman Oestmann. Victor was baptized at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson on April 13, 1914, and was confirmed in the church on April 10, 1927. He attended Rohrs school in his early years and graduated from Auburn High School. On Oct. 30, 1936 Victor was married to Opal Fass at Martin Luther Church of rural Johnson. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. Having started farming with his father Victor continued to farm until 1965. After this he was an agent for farm bureau ins. and later worked at WoodCarv in Auburn, Ne. until his retirement in 1979. Victor was a life time member of St.Matthew Lutheran Church and was active in the church choir of both St. Matthew and Harlingen, TX. where he and Opal spent their winters for 19 years. He also enjoyed singing with the Apple Corps Barbar Shoppers and was active in 4H, Kiwanis, Farm Bureau and the Nemaha County Museum where he served on the board. Victor was widely known for his love of restoring old Massie Harris Tractors. and driving them in parades around the area. He was also very proud of all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On June 23 of this year Victor intered Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha and it was there that he passed away on Aug. 9, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 10 days. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Addie and a Granddaughter Debora Oestmann. He is survived by his wife Opal, sons, Ronald and wife Barbara of Manassas, VA. Willis and wife Carol of Elkorn, NE. Daughters Beverly and husband Ron of Shenandoah, IA. Judy and husband Charles Huff of Raltson, NE. a Sister Albert and husband Andrew Eckhoff of Auburn, Ne. Grandchildren, Rick and wife Susan, Scott and wife Patty , Jeff, Brenda, Shelly, Michael and wife Heather, and Suzanne Oestmann, Tisha and husband John Burkholder, Lori and husband Clay Maranville, and Christine Huff, great grandchildren, Jacob, and Joshua and Toni, Alli, Caney, Charlie, Nikki, Trevor, James, and Alix, nephew, Steven Eckhoff, and many other relatives and friends.
