Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Friday, October 17, 1969; Page 11 Mrs. Surber Funeral Rites on Saturday Graveside services for Mrs. Ville Mae Surber, 83, longtime Norfolkan, will be conducted Saturday at 5 p.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The Rev. J. Graydon Wilson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. The body will lie in state from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Howser Mortuary. Mrs. Surber died Thursday at a Norfolk rest home. She was the former Villie Mae Adams and was born Oct. 21, 1885, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel T. Adams at Emmet. She came to Norfolk when she was 5 years old and had resided here since. She was graduated from Norfolk High School, attended Fremont Normal College and was a rural teacher west and north of Norfolk until her marriage to George Estel Surber in 1908. Mr. Surber died Feb. 19, 1951, and a son, Dr. E. G. Surber, well known Norfolk physician, was drowned in a boating accident last May in Minnesota. Mrs. Surber is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. E. G. Surber of Norfolk; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Kimble of Dodge, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews, among them two Norfolkans, Mrs. Rose Turley and Mrs. Helen Lederer. all spelling and punctuation as it appeared in the paper(s) (GH)
