She was born on July 31, 1921 to William A. and Alma (Mork) Nelson on the family farm near Clermont, Iowa. Read More	Vinah “Jackie” Marilyn Shipton, 91, of Clermont, Iowa passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa. She was born on July 31, 1921 to William A. and Alma (Mork) Nelson on the family farm near Clermont, Iowa. Jackie was baptized on August 10, 1921 at the East Clermont Church in Clermont and confirmed on May 10, 1936 at the West Clermont Church, also in Clermont. She attended Larrabee Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Clermont High School in Clermont. Jackie was united in marriage to John Wayne Shipton on January 8, 1942 in the Clermont Lutheran Parsonage in Clermont. To this union two children were born. She worked at Leo’s U Save grocery store in Clermont for seventeen years and Larrabee grade school for seventeen years. Jackie belonged to the Clermont B&P Women’s Club. She was a lifetime member of the West Clermont Church. Jackie enjoyed camping with family and friends. She loved working in her flower gardens and enjoyed quilting at church. Jackie is survived by her children, John (Marilyn) Shipton of Clermont and Cheryl (Louis) Christen of Elgin; sister-in-law, Khaki Nelson of Clermont and several nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death her husband John Wayne Shipton in 1986; her parents, William and Alma Nelson; her brothers, Almer, Mick and William Nelson; sister, Virginia “Ginny” House; a sister in infancy, Winifred; sisters-in-law, Alice and Margaret Nelson and brother-in-law, Ralph House. Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2 – 6 pm at -Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa and one hour before church services on Monday. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa Burial to follow at God’s Acres in Clermont, Iowa.
