Description	:	The funeral for Vinal W. Preston, 83, Groton, wasf held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Groton, with the Rev. James Wright officiating. Burial was in the Groton Union Cemetery under the direcction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. He died Monday, Jan. 7 at Colonial Manor in Groton. Casketbearers were Robert Voigt, Robert Wegner, Dale McKiver, Jerroll Erdmann, Jon Anderson and Jack Chilton. The organist was Mrs. Clayton Sternhagen and the soloist, Lee Schinkel, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." He lived in Groton until 1942 when he moved to San Francisco. He lived in San Francisco until retirement in 1969, when he moved back to Groton. He also taught sschool several years. Survivors include one nephew, John, Santa Cruz, Calif.; and one niece, Mrs. Wayne (Jackie) Davies, Aberdeen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
