Mr. Batt's body is now at his home, 720 Riverside Avenue, a short distance from the old brickyard swimming hole where the accident occurred. He died Sunday at 5:45 p.m. in St. Vincent's Hospital. He was taken there by ambulance Thursday after an x-ray examination revealed one cervical vertebra dislocated and two possibly fractured. Pneumonia developed. His mother, Mrs. Florence Batt, 1017 Davidson street, and his two brothers, Cletus, of Northfield, Mich., and Charles of Defiance, were with Mr. Batt when he passed away. His wife had returned to Defiance Saturday night. She was ordered home by doctors because of her condition. Mrs. Batt expects to become a mother soon. Mr. Batt was born Jan. 20, 1909, in Delaware township, a son of the late Ferdinand Batt and Mrs. Florence Batt. When six months old he came to Defiance with his parents. Mr. Batt was married Oct. 24, 1928, to Miss Lucille Zipfel, a daughter of Mrs. Martha Zipfel, 714 Riverside avenue. They were married in Defiance and continued to live here since their marriage. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lucille Batt; tow sons, Robert Batt, 3, and Donald Batt, 2; a daughter, Joan Batt, 1; two brothers, Cletus, Northfield, Mich. and Charles, Defiance; Five sisters, Mrs. Jerome Moser, Defiance; Miss Catherine Batt, Boise, Idaho; and Misses Alberta Ann and Mary Frances Batt, Defiance; and his mother, Mrs. Florence Batt. A brother, Anthony , died in 1923, and a sister, Mary died in 1911.
