Description	:	Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent Lantz, 92, of Mott, ND will be Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. Charles Zins will officiate and burial will follow at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott with full military honors. A Rosary/Vigil service will also be held there on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. VINCENT LANTZ was born on October 13, 1914 to Leonard and Rose (Barth) Lantz at their farm, north of Mott, ND. He grew up there as one of eleven children. Vincent attended country school near the farm and began working at an early age for area farmers, along with his own family's farm. When WWII began, Vincent was drafted into the US Army. He honorably served his country for four years in Africa, Italy and France in the Infantry. After his discharge, he returned to North Dakota. Vincent met Evelyn Schmidt and they were united in marriage in 1948. They began their life together in Mott, raising three children, Cheryl, Dale and David. His life work was being a mechanic. Vincent had a gift with his hands and could fix anything. His wife, Evelyn died in 1963 after a long battle with cancer, leaving Vincent a single parent. Vincent also assisted the Hettinger County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy for several years, along with operating the projector at the theater and the drive-in. When he "retired" from being a mechanic, he worked as a sales clerk at Mott Supply. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and crafting. Vincent volunteered at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott for several years and was honored as the "Volunteer of the Year" in 2004. He was always there for anyone in need, whether running errands or giving someone a ride, somewhere. Vincent became known as the "Candyman", handing out thousands upon thousands of Tootsie Rolls to everyone he could. Vincent Lantz passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, ND on September 9, 2007. Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Cheryl (Byron) Davidson, of Worthington, MN, Dale (Tina) Lantz, of Dickinson and David Lantz, of Williston, ND; brother, Julius Lantz, of Mott, ND; sisters, Christine (Bob) Hazelton, of Edgeley, ND and Katie Hecker, of Dickinson, ND; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn in 1963 and his siblings, John, Mike, Frank, Benny, Kasper, Mary, Betty, Veronica and Anna.
