Vincent Leo McNamara was born September 14, 1933 at Winthrop, Iowa. He was the son of Dennis and Mary Henry, McNamara. Vince attended the Anderson School in rural Linn County near Prairieburg. He worked as a farm hand and construction worker. Vince married Doris Plauer on October 27, 1955 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa. The couple farmed in the Prairieburg area and Vince also worked for Able and Howe Construction Company in Cedar Rapids. Vince was a member of the Laborers Local 43 and St. Joseph Catholic Church Surviving is his wife, Doris, 5 children, Ken (Teresa) McNamara, Lyle (Berna) McNamara all of Prairieburg, Kurt McNamara, Coggon, Susan Shaw, Greene, Kay McNamara, Prairieburg. 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 siblings, Frances (Harris) Harmsen, Monticello, John (Jo) McNamara, Anamosa, He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Theresa Ann in 2002, 3 brothers, Rich, Virgil and Dennis, and 4 sisters, Lorretta Alves, Regina Ahlrichs, and Pauline Kelly, Mary Burns. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 Tuesday at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has been entrusted to care for Vince and his services.
