Read More	The Belvidere Times, December 26, 1935 Another Pioneer Passes Away This community was saddened by the death of Vincent L. Cacek on Friday, December 20, at 10 o’clock P.M. Though he had been ailing for some time it was unexpected and a shock to everyone at the time. Vincent Cacek was born in Korouhev, Czechoslovakia on August 25, 1859, baptized in the Roman Catholic faith, later serving as an altar boy to the age of 15 in the church where he was baptized. At the age of fourteen he started apprenticeship as a shoe and harness maker and continued at Korouhev until passing a mastership in his trade which he followed up to a few months prior to his illness which caused his death. On April 25, 1883 he was united in marriage to Anna Zoldan and to this union nine children were born, four of whom preceded him in death, two in infancy and Rose Bertha Willert, who died at the age of 25, and Rudolph L. who was 47. In 1892 Mr. Cacek left the fatherland and came to America to make a new home. Early upon his arrival to the United States he revoked allegiance to the Austrian crown by becoming a citizen of the United States, which act he always recommended to other immigrants. Two years later his wife and three children came join him in Niobrara, Nebraska where they lived about a year and later moved to Tyndall where they lived eleven years. In 1907, with the other pioneers, the family moved to Stanley county and lived on a farm while he continued his trade in town. He also conducted a cream station here for several years. In his later years he gave up his trade and had retired to the farm where he lived until recently. When he began to fail he lived his daughter, Mrs. Walter Rauch for some time and with his … where he quietly passed away. He was an active member of the Z.B.C.J. Fraternity for a period of 35 years and a member of the C.S.P.S. for 38 years, holding various offices in both of these Bohemian fraternals. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his passing, three sons, August of Cherokee, Iowa; Charley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Adolph of Belvidere, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Klima, Glencoe, Minn., and Mrs Walter Rauch of Belvidere, and one brother, Joseph of Gregory, S. D. also seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Monday, December 23rd, conducted by Fr. McCormick and burial was made in the Belvidere Cemetery. Besides the immediate relatives, a large crowd of old friends and neighbors attended the funeral to pay their last respects to this old pioneer, and the sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family.
