He lost control of the truck... Read More	Vincent Paul Kinzel Wenatchee, WA Vincent Paul Kinzel died peacefully Monday, June 9, 2014, at the age of 55. Vincent was born on December 1, 1959, in Brewster, WA, to Doris and John Kinzel of Mansfield, WA. Vincent was active in sports and loved the games of baseball and basketball. After graduating from Mansfield High School, he worked locally for Western Farm Services of Mansfield. On Friday, September 7, 1984, at the age of 24, Vincent was driving a truck with Hydros Ammonia liquid fertilizer, coming down a steep embankment after spraying an orchard in Pateros. He lost control of the truck that plunged broadside down an embankment and landed on Highway 97. His physical injuries were quite serious from being ejected from the truck during overturns down the embankment, and the deadly spray from the punctured fertilizer tanks caused severe life-long damage to his lungs. For 30 years, Vincent enjoyed life even with the challenge of requiring full-time oxygen. He enjoyed a ride to Mansfield, Brewster, Bridgeport, Chelan, Ephrata, Waterville, and even Spokane for basketball tournaments or just to visit with people. Three summers ago, he joined his family in Chelan for a week at a lakefront home, where he spent time with his feet in the water every chance he could, and a boat ride as well. He said his goal was to be able to swim again someday. A year ago, Vincent and his doctors were in discussion about his need for a lung transplant and that he was healthy enough to go through the procedure. This set into motion the pre-transplant meetings and tests that were needed to even get on the lung transplant list at the University Medical Center in Seattle. January was to be the last trip to Seattle for tests and then he would be officially on the list and he mentioned to his doctor that he would like to swim and dance when he gets his life back. Unfortunately, in December 2013, he came down with a few bugs that settled in his lungs and he was in the hospital for a week. This weakened his health and the transplant opportunity was no longer an option. Last month he said he had another ten good years to live and, even to the end, he was an optimist and didn’t give up. Vincent was preceded in his death by his brother, Phillip Kinzel; and his parents, Doris and John Kinzel. Vincent is survived by his brothers, Jeff Kinzel of Wenatchee, WA, Kurt Kinzel (Terry Troutman) of Ephrata, WA, and Todd Kinzel of Electric City, WA; and sister, Regina (Kinzel) Wiedemann of San Jose, CA. Services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 625 South Elliott Avenue, Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association at lung.org or 800-586-4872.
