CLEMA Vincent Rudolph Clema, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Clema, was born July 26, 1919, near Pawnee City and was called to his Heavenly home at Pawnee Hospital on Friday, October 28, 1932, at the age of 13 years, 3 months and 2 days. All his happy boyhood days were spent at the family home in the Chatawa community southwest of Pawnee City. It was in this county school (Chatawa) that he received his education, being a brilliant student of the eighth grade class. His playmates and schoolmates always selected him as their leader in what ever they undertook. Even though his life ended so early, it was filled with happiness, for his sunny disposition and cheerful manner made every one love him. Being born of industrious parents, little Vincent was marked with this identical trait. He carried on farm labors like a man, working for his neighbors in the busy season and lending a helping hand whenever he found it necessary. His wide circle of acquaintances always knew Vincent as an obedient, energetic, loving lad. The record he attained during his seven years in school pointed out what a studious boy he was. His happy smile will be missed more day by day by the dear ones he left behind. Vincent was a healthy little fellow and the illness that brought his death was of less than 24 hours duration. Early Friday morning he was stricken, and taken to the Pawnee hospital, where he passed away quietly that evening. Ptomaine poison was believed to be the cause. He leaves his father and mother, his brother, Joe, and sisters, Alice and Ina, to mourn his loss; also his grandmother, Mrs. Vincent Clema of Steinauer, and his grandfather, Joe Wenzl, also of that place, besides several aunts, uncles, cousins, and host of friends and neighbors. A large number of his beloved neighbors and friends attended the services and all his schoolmates and teacher attended in a body. The floral offerings were especially beautiful. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery east of Steinauer. The four cousins of the deceased, Carleton and Delmar Flehtner, Melvin Clema, Lawrence Wenzl, and Leonard Fournell and Hoseph Honig acted as pallbearers. deep sympathy goes out to the family. No!
