Description	:	Viola Anne (Happel) Meyer was born to her loving parents Jacob August and Elisabeth (Hansen) Happel on Monday April 1, 1901 at Maple Township, Dodge County Nebraska. Viola was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the rural Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church at rural Fremont, Dodge County. Viola attended elementary school district twenty two of Hooper, Dodge County and was a 1921 graduate of Fremont High. Read More	Viola Anne (Happel) Meyer was born to her loving parents Jacob August and Elisabeth (Hansen) Happel on Monday April 1, 1901 at Maple Township, Dodge County Nebraska. Viola was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the rural Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church at rural Fremont, Dodge County. Viola attended elementary school district twenty two of Hooper, Dodge County and was a 1921 graduate of Fremont High. Viola later attended Wayne State Teacher College, Wayne County, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Lancaster County, and the Midland Lutheran College at Fremont. Viola taught at the rural Hooper school district sixty four for two years, the Cedar Rapids, Boone County City Schools for three years, then spent ten years as a Scribner, Dodge County junior high teacher. Viola was united in marriage to Fred Meyer on Tuesday June 16, 1931 at the rural Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church. Viola then took a break from teaching to be a housewife. Viola returned to teaching in 1942 at the Scribner Junior High until she retired in 1966. Viola taught a total of twenty eight years in the school system. Viola traveled to Germany and Europe in 1967. Viola served on the Scribner Library Board for thirty years, many of those years as president. Viola was a former member of the Scribner Extension Club and various other organizations, she was also a member of the Retired Teachers of Fremont. Viola served on the election board for several years and was a volunteer for the Red Cross at the Good Samaritan Center at Scribner when it was established. Viola was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Scribner where she taught Sunday school for many years. Viola was also a member of St. Peter's Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Laymen's League. Sadly Viola passed Tuesday morning May 9, 1995 at the Fremont Memorial Hospital of Dodge County at the age of 94 years, 1 month, 8 days which does not include her last day, she lived a total of 34,371 days. Viola's visitation was held on Friday May 12, 1995 at 2p for the family and from 3p to 9p for the public at the Spear-Johnson Funeral Home at Scribner. Funeral services were held at 10:30a on Saturday May 13, 1995 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Brunner officiating. Mike Lamberty and Brenda Lamberty were the soloists. Viola was interred in the Scribner Cemetery. Viola's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Viola by Loren R.
