Read More	Viola Bernice Frescoln, 98, of Fairfield, and formerly of Batavia, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Sunnybrook Care Center in Fairfield. Born Sept. 21, 1910, in Jefferson County, the daughter of John Orion and Velma Eyestone Bartholow. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School. Bernice married Bruce K. Frescoln on June 5, 1929, in Agency, Iowa. They lived on the family farm near Batavia until 1979 when they moved to Fairfield. He preceded her in death in March 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of the Batavia United Methodist Church, she attended the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, she was a member of the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, Fairfield Women's Club, she was a 68-year member and past worthy matron of the Order Eastern Star, and former member of Church Women United. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, traveling and playing bridge. Deceased family members include her husband; an infant daughter, Phyllis Jean Frescoln; one brother, Oral Bartholow and two sisters, Florence Easton and Nellie Bartholow and one grandson, Jon Walker. Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn (Milford) Walker of Sigourney, Iowa, Ruth (Jerry) Riggs of Amana, Iowa, and Melva (John) Dahl of Fairfield; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield with Reverend David Peterson officiating.
