Description	:	Viola Frieda Schrenk was born September 22, 1917 to Jacob and Christina (Bender) Schrenk in Zeeland, ND. She grew up on the family farm, receiving her formal education at Zeeland and was honored to be Valedictorian. Frieda married Reuben Kusler on November 7, 1940 and they made their home in Ellendale, ND for a short time. Read More	Viola Frieda Schrenk was born September 22, 1917 to Jacob and Christina (Bender) Schrenk in Zeeland, ND. She grew up on the family farm, receiving her formal education at Zeeland and was honored to be Valedictorian. Frieda married Reuben Kusler on November 7, 1940 and they made their home in Ellendale, ND for a short time. In 1946 they moved to Aberdeen, SD where they were in the grocery business with her brother Milton until November of 1957. They moved to Eureka, SD in January of 1958 where they owned and operated the Super Valu Grocery Store. In August, 1967 they moved back to Aberdeen. As a teenager and young adult, along with her two brothers, she sang for weddings and funerals. They were known as the Schrenk Trio. She also played the clarinet in the Venturia City Band. She had a lovely alto voice and a great love for music. Frieda was 12 years old when she began singing in the church choir and 90 when she quit. Frieda also enjoyed singing duets, often in the German language, with her husband, Reuben. Frieda sold Fuller Brush for several years. She went to work at Kessler’s Deli when she was 70 years old, working part-time until she retired at the age of 91. Frieda loved to work in her garden. Growing beets was her favorite, she also loved growing African violets in her basement. Watching her family playing volleyball and basketball at Aberdeen Central and Northern State University brought her great joy. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins on television. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Ken Kusler, Kathy Werner, Keith Kusler; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and one sister-in-law, Millie Schrenk. Preceding her in death are her husband, Reuben Kusler, parents, Jacob and Christina Schrenk, brothers: Ephraim Schrenk, Milton (Alice) Schrenk, and grandsons: Kirk Kusler and Keven Kusler. Frieda left with the hope that her family will remember that she was proud and loved each and every one of them.
