Description	:	Viola H. DenOtter, age 96, of Clear Lake and formerly of Volga, passed away February 3, 2015, at Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, February 7, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in Volga with burial in the church cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Viola was born January 10, 1919, to Olger and Borghild (Vostad) Granum. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Volga and graduated from Volga High School in 1937. On October 21, 1941, she married Gerrit DenOtter in Pipestone, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Volga and celebrated 73 years together. In 2007, they moved to Clear Lake to live with their daughter and her family. Viola entered the Good Samaritan Home Deuel County in 2014, but continued to take part in family outings and celebrations until shortly before her death. Viola’s Christian faith was her foundation, and she quietly and humbly served the Lord throughout her life. As a member of First Lutheran, Viola taught Sunday school classes and participated in Circle, WELCA, and many service clubs. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Volga Co-op for several years and later for the Volga Variety Store. Viola was a member of several sewing and birthday clubs and always looked forward to spending time with those special friends. She and Gerrit also enjoyed volunteering at the Brookings County Museum together in retirement. Viola’s pastimes included embroidery, baking, and birdwatching, and she was an avid reader. Her great joy was time spent with family. She is lovingly remember by her husband, Gerrit; her daughter, Paula (Evan) DesEnfants, of Clear Lake; daughter-in-law, Carol DenOtter, of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Jason (Rhonda) DenOtter, Jeff (Lora) DenOtter, Kari DenOtter, Matthew (fiancé, Laura Bade) DesEnfants, and Adam (fiancé, Katy Milton) DesEnfants; great-granddaughter, Stella DenOtter; sister, Frances Olson; sisters-in-law, Arlene Granum, Darla Granum, and Marlene Tevedahl; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary; her parents; her sisters, Vivian and Janet; and brothers, Sylvan, Carl, Duane, Alvin, and George, who died in infancy.
