Jenkins Mrs. Viola J Jenkins was born in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, September 7, 1869, and died at Edgar, Nebraska, October 16, 1940, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 9 days. She was the daughter of Rev. George and Martha Shinn. She was married to Francis M. Jenkins on June 7, 1886, at Logan, Iowa, and to this union six children were born, four daughters and two sons, Three of the children passed away years ago. Surviving are three daughter, Mrs. Pearl Williams. Baltimore, Maryland; Mrs. Ethel VanCamp, Baltimore, Maryland; and Mrs. Maria Cooper, Leopardstown, Maryland; two granddaughters, Miss Ruth Marie Cooper, who is assistant registrar at her alma mater, Goucher's College at Baltimore, Maryland; and Mrs. Mary Lee Van Camp Luttrell, Baltimore, and a host of friends. Her husband died in 1905. On Sept 27, 1911, she married George Hitch of Goehner, Nebr., who passed away in 1928. On September 10, 1936, she was married to George W. Jenkins, of Edgar, Nebraska, a cousin of her first husband. He passed away on May 18, 1940. Deceased was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She loved the church and was faithful to it. She loved God and loved to meet with God's people. Mrs. Jenkins was a valued member of the Edgar Woman's Club, faithful in attendance and willing to assume her share of the responsibilities. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held Friday, October 18, 1940, at 2:30 P. M., at the Methodist Church, Rev. Raymond Rush officiating. Those in charge of the music were: Mrs. Herbert Kollman, Genevieve Hungerford, Cecil Strawser and M. E. Cushing. Mrs. Lydia Phelps was at the piano. Pallbearers were: Barney Kollman, Harvey Countryman, J. W. Cassell, Chas. Hanson, W. H. Reid and Timothy Kane. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery.
