Description	:	VIOLA SCHEID, 88, of Hazen, passed away on February 5, 2017, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Viola Scheid was born October 22, 1928 to John and Katherine (Koehler) Knoell on the family farm near Krem. She was baptized on November 25, 1929 and confirmed on July 19, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Krem. She attended country school. Viola married Walter Scheid on November 6, 1949 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. Viola and Walter made their home on the family farm north of Hazen. They raised two children Brenda and Steve. ... Viola Scheid was born October 22, 1928 to John and Katherine (Koehler) Knoell on the family farm near Krem. She was baptized on November 25, 1929 and confirmed on July 19, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Krem. She attended country school. Viola married Walter Scheid on November 6, 1949 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. Viola and Walter made their home on the family farm north of Hazen. They raised two children Brenda and Steve. Together as a family they farmed and had a dairy operation with registered Brown Swiss. Walter and Viola moved to Hazen in 1997. In June of 2007, she became a resident of the Knife River Care Center. Walter passed away February 21, 2009 after 59 years of marriage. Viola and Walter would take trips that always involved looking at cattle. They never missed a Sunday afternoon visit, a cattle show, or any activity to spend time with their two grandchildren. Viola was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church and also a member of the Mary Circle. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and visiting with people. Viola enjoyed her great grandsons when those "little guys" would come and visit. She will be remember by her family for the special angel food cake that she would make for everyone's birthday. Even in the last years when life became hard she would still always answer "I am OK". Viola is survived by her children; one daughter, Brenda Weigum, Zap, ND, one son, Steve Scheid and special friend Brenda Travis of Hazen, ND; one grandson, Shanan and Pam Weigum, Zap, ND; one granddaughter, Tiffany Weigum, Zap, ND; four great-grandsons, Luke Josund, Morris MN, Carson, Seth and Dylan Weigum, Zap, ND; one sister-in-law, Clara Mattheis, Hazen, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; one son-in-law, Dale Weigum; her brother and sister-in-law, Art and Florence Knoell. Barbot Funeral Home
