Description	:	Viola Mary Parrott was born at 1106 North Summit Street (now Prairie du Chien Road) in Iowa City, Iowa on August 27, 1906. She was the third child of Charles Frank Parrott II and his wife Mary Magdalena (Schmitt) Parrott. Viola attended school in Iowa City, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1925 and later from Irish's Business College. Read More	Viola Mary Parrott was born at 1106 North Summit Street (now Prairie du Chien Road) in Iowa City, Iowa on August 27, 1906. She was the third child of Charles Frank Parrott II and his wife Mary Magdalena (Schmitt) Parrott. Viola attended school in Iowa City, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1925 and later from Irish's Business College. Following her graduation, she was employed as a switchboard operator and assistant desk clerk at the Hotel Jefferson in Iowa City. While working there, she was introduced to her future husband, Silas M. Teig, a Greyhound bus driver from Des Moines, Iowa. Viola moved to Des Moines shortly after meeting Mr. Teig. They were married on Dec. 12, 1931 at Bethany, Missouri. They continued to reside in Des Moines for a short time and subsequently made their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota before moving to Chicago in 1933. In 1950, they moved to the Chicago suburb of Maywood. After Mr. Teig's death in 1963, Viola remained in Maywood until 1972, when she sold her home. She lived with a nephew in Minnesota for a short time before moving back to Iowa City, Iowa in 1975. In 1985, due to the debilitating effects of severe rheumatoid arthritis, Viola moved into Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville, Iowa. She died there at 5:15 on the morning of Nov. 23, 1993.
