A native of North Wilkesboro, she had lived in Swain County since 1942. She was the wife of James Madison Branton, who died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by a son, Walter Ray Branton, and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Auman and husband, Robert, of High Point; six granddaughters, Sharon Ensley of Fletcher, Shirley Branton of Weaverville, Donna Loftis and husband, Dean of Bryson City, Ann Spaugh and husband, Lindsay, of Archdale, Peggy Pierce and husband, Steve, of Wallburg and Penny Winchester and husband, Mark, of Randleman; one brother, Don Anderson of Aberdeen, Md.; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her extended family at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Branton Loftis will officiate. Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
