Bruce Iverson will officiate in Trinity Lutheran Church at Madison, and burial will be in Prairie Queen Cemetery at Nunda. Viola Overskei was born on March 26, 1911, at Nunda. Bruce Iverson will officiate in Trinity Lutheran Church at Madison, and burial will be in Prairie Queen Cemetery at Nunda. Viola Overskei was born on March 26, 1911, at Nunda. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school and later Rutland High School. She then attended Augustana Academy and earned her high school diploma. She attended one year of advanced training at Augustana Academy to earn her teaching certificate. She taught school in the Nunda area for seven years. She married George Hanson on Sept. 30, 1936, at Nunda. They farmed there until his death on Feb. 8, 1966. She later lived in Brookings until moving to Madison in 1998, where she became a resident of Bethel Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda and First Lutheran Church in Brookings, and past member of Extension Club and Farmers Union. Survivors include two sons, David (Barb) of Nunda, and Ted (Bonnie) of Black Hawk; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anne Webster of Morris, Minn., Marjorie Pine and Olive Schleuter, both of Gresham, Ore., and Vivian Smith of National City, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Solveig Goldstein of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Orville, Harold and John Overskei; and a sister, Mildred Olson. Online registration is available at www.randallfuneral.com.
