Description	:	"BROADUS -- Viola Doeden filed on a homestead in the Doyle Creek community as a young woman and in later years enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. She was a longtime member of the Congregational Church in Broadus, was instrumental in the creation of the Powder River Senior Citizen Club and enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Mrs. Doeden, 79, died Thursday in Billings Deaconess Medical Center of heart failure. She was born in Jamison, Neb., a daughter of Glen and Ollie Belle Wakefield. Mrs. Doeden, 79, died Thursday in Billings Deaconess Medical Center of heart failure. She was born in Jamison, Neb., a daughter of Glen and Ollie Belle Wakefield. At the age of six, she moved with her family by covered wagon to Ridge, Mont., where they homesteaded. She attended the Drane school near Ridge and then filed on a homestead. In 1931 she married Raymond Houser and they made their home on the homestead. Mr. Houser died in 1942. In 1946, she married Henry Phillipi in Miles City; he died in 1972. On June 28, 1980, she married Herman Doeden in Belle Fourche, S.D. They made their home in Broadus and traveled extensively, visiting relatives and friends. Survivors include her husband, Herman; two sons, Gary Houser and Jackie Houser, both of Billings; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ray (Anna) Traub of Broadus; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus with burial in Valley View Cemetery, Broadus." The Billings Gazette, April 27, 1987
