Werling, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wirick, in the twenty-fifth year of her age. Deceased was born in Cedar county Oct. 10th, 1864, and has always lived here except a few months in Nebraska. WERLING.--At Carbondale, Colorado, May 14th, 1889, of consumption, Mrs. Viola, wife of J. D. Werling, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wirick, in the twenty-fifth year of her age. Deceased was born in Cedar county Oct. 10th, 1864, and has always lived here except a few months in Nebraska. In the fall of '82 she entered Tipton High School, where she pursued her studies with diligence and perseverance, graduating with her class in June, '85. During vacation she had taught school near her home, and the winter of '85 and '86 she spent in Nebraska successfully engaged in the same vocation. Upon her return from Nebraska in the spring of '86 she was united in marriage with J. D. Werling. She was a loving and devoted wife, bearing her suffering with patience and christian fortitude. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Tipton, having united in the spring of '83. And she trusted in her Savior throughout her long and severe illness, which terminated, as stated, in far-off Colorado, whither she had gone in the hope that mountain air would restore her failing health. After the sad ending her bereaved husband and the kind sister who had accompanied her, brought her mortal remains back to the sorrowing friends here and funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. C. Townsend at Mt. Zion church on Sunday, 19th inst., at 10:30 a. m.--the large attendance testifying to the general esteem in which deceased was held. Interment was had in the Mt. Zion cemetery close at hand.
