She was born in Chelan, WA to Alfred and Viola Cox and graduated from Chelan High School. She married Tommy Smith in 1943. Read More	YVONNE "VONNIE" SMITH - Thursday - August 3, 2006 Wenatchee - 1924 - 2006 Vonnie died Tuesday, August 2, 2006, at Colonial Vista Care Center. She was born in Chelan, WA to Alfred and Viola Cox and graduated from Chelan High School. She married Tommy Smith in 1943. Mom worked many years as a bookkeeper until her and Dad began their second careers in 1966, when Dad became a golf professional and the team of Vonnie and Tommy managed the Rock Island Golf Course until 1972. They moved to Lewiston, ID to manage Lewiston Municipal Golf Course and the Lewiston Golf and Country Club. Mom and Dad worked closely together in all of their ventures, always having fun in the process. Mom and Dad semi-retired in Wenatchee in 1988, but still traveled to Borrego Springs, CA in the winter, working just to keep busy, at Di Anza Golf and Country Club while Dad gave golf lessons. Mom was a bundle of energy all her life with a quick sense of humor and a laugh that could bring the roof down. Dad preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Von and Cindi Smith of Chelan; daughters, Pam Ogle and Patti Baker both of East Wenatchee; two grandsons, Mike Ogle and his wife, Jamie of Wenatchee and Ryan Smith of Lake Tahoe, NV; granddaughters, Piper Scott of Spokane and her family, Jodi Baker of Bellevue; and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Tyler Ogle of Wenatchee. She is also survived by an aunt and good friend, Wilma Veroske of Chelan; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. We have missed Mom's laugh, sense of humor, determination and support during the time that she was so sick. But we know that she is no longer anxious, confused and lonesome for Tommy. Special thanks and appreciation to all the nurses and aides at Colonial Vista and Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers. please make a donation to your favorite charity. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan. Precht Rose Chapel of Chelan is in care of arrangements.
