Description	:	Violet Ann (Louden) Jackson was born September 10, 1928 in the Fullerton, NE area to W. Raymond and Maude Ada Louden. After her mother died when Violet was a toddler she was raised by her grandmother, until she became self-supporting at the age of 14. She graduated from Fullerton High School at the age of 16 and moved to Kearney to become a telephone operator. Read More	Violet Ann (Louden) Jackson was born September 10, 1928 in the Fullerton, NE area to W. Raymond and Maude Ada Louden. After her mother died when Violet was a toddler she was raised by her grandmother, until she became self-supporting at the age of 14. She graduated from Fullerton High School at the age of 16 and moved to Kearney to become a telephone operator. There she met Roy Jackson while roller skating and they were married in Axtell on June 10, 1946. Three children were born to them, Don, Dave, and Kathryn. The family moved to Cambridge in 1958, and once the children were all in school, Violet pursued her dream of becoming a teacher, and taught 4th grade in Wilsonville for 16 years. She graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in August 1969. As a young widow with all three children grown in 1975 she moved to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY where she served as a teacher and dorm parent. She was then commissioned as a Home Missionary at the NE Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1977. She retired to York in August 1990 to be near her daughter, Kathryn and grandchildren. She worked as a companion for the elderly for several years. She also became a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church in 1994 and enjoyed traveling to area churches to talk about Home Missions and her experiences at Red Bird. She was active in the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Cambridge, Red Bird Mission and York, and held many offices over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Alden. She was survived by her children: Don Jackson (Beverlee Nelson), Dave (Cathy) Jackson, and Kathryn (Dennis) Moore, grandchildren: Anita (Scott) Saalfeld, Scott (Hannah) Moore, Becca Moore, Heath Moore, Jenny (Matt) Diehl, Kristen Nelson and Joe Nelson and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Arlene Louden, Madge Johnson, Nova Schulze, and Mildred (Eugene) Urbom. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am., Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Graveside services were at 3:00 pm., Wednesday in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell, NE. York News Times August 22, 2015
