Description	:	Violet D. "Vi" Miller, , of Atchison, KS, passed away on April 28, 2011. Vi was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma the daughter of Jerry Richard and Anna Dunkle Pautz. She was reared and educated in Hiawatha, Kansas. She and J. Dean Miller were united in marriage on February 2, 1925 in Troy, Kansas. Mr. Miller preceded her in death in 1974. She was reared and educated in Hiawatha, Kansas. She and J. Dean Miller were united in marriage on February 2, 1925 in Troy, Kansas. Mr. Miller preceded her in death in 1974. Vi was a former member of the Atchison United Methodist Church and later the Cummings United Methodist Church, member and former board of director of Pineview Country Club, Eastern Star, Social Order of Beaucent, member and former board of director of Atchison Art Association and the Community Concerts, active in the Moila Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, avid supporter of the Arts, enjoyed playing golf and was the former city champion at both Pineview Country Club and Bellevue Golf and Country Club, enjoyed bowling and was a member of a championship bowling league for several years. Violet D. Miller is survived by a daughter, June Friend and her husband, John, Nortonville, KS, and four grandsons, Patrick Friend, Atchison, KS, James Friend, Lenexa, KS, John Friend, Ozawkie, KS, Bill Friend, Dallas, TX, seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons Mark Friend and Joseph Friend, two sisters, Wilhamena Anderson, Audry Oxley and two brothers, Francis Pautz and Richard Pautz. Services to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at Hiawatha Cemetery, Hiawatha, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 29th from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the Atchison United Methodist Church. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home of Atchison has been entrusted with these final arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cummings United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
