Description	:	Violet Victoria Wiegert, 86, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by her family. Violet was born Aug. 30, 1924, in rural Howard County near Worms to Arthur and Sophia (Von Aschwege) Ueckert. Survivors are: daughter, Darlene Wiegert and Ben Thayer of Dannebrog; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Ronda Wiegert of Grand Island; grandchildren, Tammi and Mark Garrels of Grand Island, Tara Wiegert of Omaha, Tatum Wiegert of Lincoln and John Loen of Loveland, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Makenna Garrels; and a host of relatives and fiends. Survivors are: daughter, Darlene Wiegert and Ben Thayer of Dannebrog; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Ronda Wiegert of Grand Island; grandchildren, Tammi and Mark Garrels of Grand Island, Tara Wiegert of Omaha, Tatum Wiegert of Lincoln and John Loen of Loveland, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Makenna Garrels; and a host of relatives and fiends. Violet grew up in rural Howard County and received her education in Grand Island. She was united in marriage to Raymond Wiegert on Nov. 14, 1945, in Marysville, Kan. The couple made their home in rural Merrick County until 1964 when they moved to Grand Island. She was employed in downtown Grand Island in retail sales and later worked at Grand Island Senior High in the lunch program. Violet was a member of Faith United Methodist Church for over 75 years, Ruth Circle, Liederkranz, Eagles Auxiliary and charter member of Pleasant Ridge Extension Club. Violet was a very loving and caring person who enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild along with her extended family and friends. Her hobbies included cooking, playing cards and doing volunteer work. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Violet was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Ray Wiegert, daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Lance Loen, sister and brother-in-law, Velaura and John Frauen and all the family saints who have gone before her.
