Sutton and Bertha (Johnson) Sutton Hansen was born April 3, 1927 in Mildred, KS. At the age of one year, she moved with the family to Iowa. She attended elementary and high school in Harlan. March 26, 1945, she married Elvin A. "Red' Hansen in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Two children were born to this union. With the exception of a short time in 1950 when they lived in Iowa City, and in Burbank, CA. in 1952, they have lived their entire married lives in Harlan. She was a member for most of her life of the First United Methodist Church in Harlan. She died July 8, 1993 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Co. Bluffs at age 66 years, 3 months and 5 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Viola M. Petersen. She is survived by her husband, Elvin 'Red' Hansen of Harlan; her children. Susan Steinkuehler of Harlan and James (Sheryl) Hansen of Norwalk; four grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Harvey Sutton of Harlan; and Stanley Sutton of Joplin, MO.; 1 brother-in-law, Leon Petersen of Harlan; nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Funeral services were held July 10, 1993 at Pauley Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Wilcox of First United Methodist Church in Harlan, officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Jeff Sutton, Dave Sutton, David Sutton, Kenneth Petersen, Michael Sutton, Rick Petersen, Norval Larson, Carl Sutton; Mark Sutton and Steve Sutton serving as casketbearers.
