Virdie Ann Ireland was born in Malvern, Ia., Sept 12, 1882, and as a young woman became the wife of Albert Bennett to whom death came in 1935. Sister-in-law of W. A. Tumey, she was well known to him for her charm of personality and worth of character, and in 1948 they were married. They have since made their home in Clinton. She was reared a member of the Christian Church but, after coming to Clinton, joined the Methodist congregation where Mr. Turney has so long been a faithful aid beloved member. Companionable and happy, they shared good years together, for she was a natural homemaker and ably discharged all household responsibilities. She was as devoted to the Turney family as to her own sons, thus endearing them all to her, cementing even closer natural bonds. Services were conducted by Rev. Mark S. Horn at the Consalus Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon. Messrs. Robert W Spangler, Billy Price and Eugene R. Consalus, accompanied by Mrs. Everette Marti, sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "We Are Going Down the Valley." The Township Board attended in a group. The body, accompanied by the family, was then taken to Shelbyville, Mo., for burial Monday. Rev. T. E. Spurling conducted the services there. Surviving this exemplary character and good, spiritual woman are her husband of the home; and three sons, Kenneth and Harold of Quincy, Ill., and Lawrence Bennett of Shelbyville, Mo.; and Mr. Turney's family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Turney of Clinton; Mrs. Alva Howell of Park, Ariz.; Mrs. Florence McGee, Chattanooga, Tenn, and Mrs. Emma Del Sharp of Warrensburg. The Clinton Eye, Clinton, Missouri, 22 Jan 1953, Page 2, Columns 6 & 7 Turney Riles Held Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. Virdie Ann Turney who died Friday, Jan. 16 were held Sunday at 4:30 p. m. at Consalus Funeral Home, the Rev. Mark S. Horn, officiated. Burial was at Shelbyville, III (sic). Billy Price, Robert Spangler and Gene Consalus, Jr. sang "We're Going Down The Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset, with Mrs. Everett Marti at the organ. Virdie Ann Ireland was born Sept 12, 1882 in Malvern, la. She was married to Albert Logan Bennett April 3, 1907. To this union three sons were born, Kenneth, and Harold Bennett of Quincy, Ill. and Lawrence Bennett of Shelbyville, Mo. Mr. Bennett died at Shelbyville, Dec. 25, 1935. Mrs. Bennett was married to W. A. Turney of Clinton, Feb. 12, 1946 and transferred her membership in the Christian Church of Shelbyville to the Methodist Church at Clinton.
