Description	:	SERIOUS ACCIDENT. On Saturday May 15th a serious accident occurred at the home of Robert Gilpatric. It seems that Verton, one of the small boys had in his possession unknown to anyone, a dynamite cap which he placed on a hot stove and the result was an explosion which severed the thumb and two fingers of his left hand. They were taken to Plymouth Hospital as quickly as possible where everything was done for their relief and comfort. Mrs. Gilpatric returned home that night and Melvin returned the next day. Virene is the daughter of John Gallagher and Florence (Ballou) Gallagher. Married August 9, 1934, in New Hampton, Horace Boynton, 23, laborer, born in New Hampton and Virene Gallagher, 15, at home, born in New Hampton. Married by Rev. J. Franklin Babb of New Hampton. 1st marriage for each. His parents: Elmer Boynton, sawyer, born in Bridgewater and Olive Haynes, born in New Hampton. Her parents: John T. Gallagher, farmer, born in Meredith and Florence Ballou, housewife, born in Bristol. >New Hampton Town Report. Virene later married Verton Gilpatric. Franklin - Virene M. (Gallagher) Gilpatric, 86, of Route 127, Salisbury Road, Franklin, died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at her home following a short illness. She was born June 22, 1919, in New Hampton, the daughter of John Gallagher and Florence (Ballou) Gallagher. She grew up in New Hampton. She lived several years in Torrington, Connecticut, and had been a resident of Franklin for 62 years. She was employed at J P Stevens woolen Mill in Tilton for 11 years and was a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 15 years before her retirement in 1988. With her late husband, Verton, she owned and raised standard bred racehorses, which they raced at Rockingham Park, Scarborough Downs and Foxboro. She was an avid hunter. She hunted with bow and arrow, rife and musket loader. Several newspaper articles have been written about her hunting expertise and adventures. Every fall, including this year, she traveled to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, with her nephew, Mike Gallagher, for a week of bow hunting. She also traveled to northern Canada to hunt caribou and to Anticosta Island in the St. Lawrence River to hunt deer. She also enjoyed freshwater and deep-sea fishing, flower and vegetable gardening and quilting. Family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving, were very important to her. She was predeceased by her husband Verton J Gilpatric, son, Raymond Boynton, and daughter Clara Fewtrell. Survivors include four sons, Horace "Red" Boynton Jr. of Bethel Ridge, Kentucky., Bernard W. Gilpatric of Tilton, Wesley A. Gilpatric of Franklin and Keith R. Gilpatric of Franklin; two daughters, Beverly Ann Zulueta of Eubank, Kentucky, and Kathleen M. Kelley of Hill; a brother Richard Gallagher of New Hampton; a half-sister, Dot Drake of New Hampton; 18 Grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call Thursday, December 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on at the H.L. Young & Company Memorial Home, 175 South Main Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2005, at 11 am in the H.L. Young & Company Memorial Home.
